We recently sold our second van conversion and bought a travel trailer. We’ve been slowly renovating it into our new #homeonwheels, so here are a few details & some before/after photos.

RV DETAILS

2017 Keystone Hideout

RENOVATION DETAILS (IN PROGRESS)

First things first, we painted the cabinets and walls white. In order to do this, here are a few tips:

  • Lightly sand all cabinetry to get better adhesion of the paint to the fake wood cabinets

  • Prime first before painting. We used Zinsser Stain Blocking Primer/Sealer

  • We use the Magnolia Trim & Cabinetry paint

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHY DID YOU SELL YOUR VAN AND BUY A RV?

We are currently in San Diego building custom vans for clients. Since we are stationary, we wanted to have a little bit more of a “stationary” home. We’re moving to Boise, Idaho this May to buy property so a RV just made sense for the in between phase we are in right now.

Will you still be doing van builds?

Yes we will still be doing van builds! Our clients who are booked later this year and in 2020 know we will be located in Boise Idaho. San Diego is too expensive to buy property in and taxes are high for small business owners. We want to own a shop/property, not rent one.

WHY ARE YOU MOVING TO IDAHO?

We plan on buying a property with a shop in May/June in Boise Idaho. It’s where we lived pre-van life and where we’ve always wanted to start our family. Alex grew up in Idaho & I grew up in Michigan - we both want our kids to experience the seasons and snow days.

ARE YOU QUITTING VAN LIFE FOR GOOD?

We love #vanlife and we definitely are NOT quitting for good. We plan on buying another van this winter or early 2020 to build out and travel next summer with baby boy.
